An update on the broke and battered! After visiting Seattle Hand Surgery on Friday for a 2nd opinion on my injured hand I was upgraded to an awesome new ring cast/splint which I will mostly live in for 3 weeks.
After that I will consult with my doc and his physical therapist team and move back into gradual retraining on rock provided all goes well.
We considered an MRI but felt it was only necessary if I needed the absolute most aggressive healing time. Since I have no climbing competitions in the near future, I'm just fine with having an extra week if necessary...and saving the $$$ that an MRI costs. That said, it was nice having a doctor who understands athletics and broached it immediately...just how soon do you need to be back on a wall. Well gosh! I'm glad you asked!
