Heads up warning...odd post ahead.
I'm vain, I get it. But there's a difference between vanity and feeling that other people agree. I think this post might seem a bit more run-of-the-mill if it were being written by a woman, or at least it would be more stereotypical. But while I can't speak for the rest of the men in the world, I can say that every once in a while it's pleasant to just get checked out. Especially as someone who spent 7th-12th grade in the outcast crowd. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate mental validation, but I've had that all my life and it's easy for me to come by. I just have to look at my career, school, colleagues, etc.
But sometimes physical validation is harder to come by. It's unfortunate, but it's easy to take Kat's point of view for granted and therefore hard for her to provide that validation in the same was a a 3rd party. So to the lovely ladies (and men) last night who showed their appreciation, thanks for the ego boost. The superficial ego, sometimes it does need the stroking.
I promise though that despite my superficial lapses I will continue to maintain my usual daily high standards for intellectual performance and interaction. Scout's honor.
