Tomorrow morning we leave for Glacier National Park. This will be our 8th year spending a week at Justin's family's cabin. Past summers have brought with them a variety of circumstances--
The first year we visited the park was before college and the start of our then-tenuous long-distance relationship. We visited the park before I left for Japan, and shortly after I returned. One year, the Roberts Fire Complex closed the park for two weeks just before we arrived and was still burning across the lake during our trip. We've been accompanied to Glacier by as many as six friends and as few as one. Three years ago, Rachel and Micah were engaged in Glacier above the Garden of the Gods. And of course, Justin and I were engaged last year at Gunsight Lake.
This year, in addition to visiting with family (Justin's dad and his girlfriend will be visiting through Monday) and friends (Tom and Amy, who we met in the park last year, will be joining us on Monday night!) we we'll be taking care of some wedding-related business. This means touring potential venues, booking blocks of rooms, visiting with a baker and talking about invitations with Cathy Weber (Justin's dad's gf). We're also having commemorative ("engagement") photos taken at the cabin by Nicole Tavenner of Piknik Studios, whom we're hoping will be our wedding photographer.
The weather looks amazing (and hot, which will be something new!) where we're headed. Here's today's webcam image of Lake McDonald, where I will be soaking my feet by day's end tomorrow:
