After nearly missing my flight due to stupid lines at security, I am here in Amsterdam. The truth is that I've been here since 8AM this morning-- it's now 4:45PM-- but I've spent the day with my aunt cycling around and swimming. I've just now settled into my hotel and I have to soon begin getting ready for dinner with several of the conference keynote speakers. Yes, I am tired... I can tell because I'm having a lot of difficulty spelling words correctly. (Also, I crashed my aunt's bike into a fence but that was probably more a function of not being used to old-fashioned backpedal brakes.) But I am functioning. I stayed up until 4AM last night, got a few hours sleep, and slept probably six or more of eight-and-a-half hours on the plane. I'd like to take a nap but there's no clock in here, my phone won't register a network (duh), I don't trust my computer or iPod, and I'm too lazy to schedule a wakeup call for half an hour from now. So instead I'm going to suck it up, write some emails, shower, and take a bike taxi to dinner. :)
