This Wednesday, June 21st, is the first day of summer! To celebrate in style, we attended the Fremont Solstice Parade, a celebrated seattle hippie tradition (though we missed the pageant afterwards, alas). The parade made me deeply nostalgic for Eugene, especially the Oregon Country Fair, which I will be missing this year for my Amsterdam trip. I can't complain. Check out the photo gallery for some fun and kooky shots from the parade, tho be warned that there is some nudity, mostly covered with body paint.
I'm being kept busy with work-- we're moving to a new office on Monday!-- and the Weekly-- I've got to compose another review this weekend. I feel I should note, though this will probably be the last status update on my anxiety, that I'm feeling 200% better. I've have only positive things to say about the effects of the medication I'm taking, even though I was really wary at first. I feel relieved to have some confirmation that it's not just my attitude or circumstances causing the problem, and that I might actually be countering a lifelong chemical imbalance. I feel so happy and so functional! I've learned some good coping skills from my therapist and I'm working on some life changes to aid me in the long run, but for now I am pacing myself nicely and enjoying life for the first time in a long while.
Happy (early) Solstice, everyone!

I may be going to the country fair this year (for boob painting and all) with my friend Shanti. I hope it's ultra crazy! The freemont parade looks pretty awesome. :-)

Glad you're doing well, Kat. Chemical imbalances are real, for which reason a wise man once said, "Medication is Good."
