I was never completely decided on how I felt about the concerts being hosted at Gasworks, a mere three blocks down the hill from our apartment. On the down side, it would have meant traffic and parking problems (boo) and potentially obnoxious noise. On the upside, it would have meant easy access to whichever big-name concert we wanted to attend, paid OR unpaid. No one, after all, can stop you from listening.
So I find myself slightly saddened that I won't be able to drift on down during the warm midsummer evenings to listen to famous people holler their hearts out over giant-ass speakers, but at least I won't have to deal with the stench of thirty-one porta-potties simmering with the shit of 3,800 concert goers in the hot summer sun.

You've put it into true perspective - weighing the positive of a great experience (I've attended a few over the years) with the downside (neighborhood concerns in a crowded metro region). It's too bad it won't be supported anymore (my opinion) but being a resident in the city... you have to weigh a lot of things. If they decide to change their minds - can I join you and J for a free listen? drinks R on me.

bummer for no free concerts, but hooray for less crowded streets. mebbe next year they will go through the appropriate channels of getting the neighbors on board with the concert series.

What does that have to do with anything?
And IMO, the Web moves people more toward connection, not away from it. Plus, there's nothing wrong with Cybersex, speaking from experience.
