Last weekend I went to Portland with my dad and younger sister to visit Liz, who is at Lewis and Clark. We hiked near Multinomah Falls, ate Moroccan food, went to Moonstruck chocolates, and visited the Portland Art Museum... then drove back early Sunday afternoon so Justin and I could make it to our first Sukiyaki Party. Mmm, Sukiyaki. We spent the evening at the house of the master sushi chef himself, Toyoda (a.k.a. Nat-chan), making delicious sukiyaki and drinking copious amounts of Sake. The man has a wonderful house and an amazing home speaker system, let me tell you!
After that, I spent a bit of time getting back into the swing of things. I was *supposed* to have an appointment for a cut-and-color plus deep conditioning treatment for my hair on Tuesday but I guess when I made the call and the receptionist said "next Tuesday" he was already thinking a week ahead. So that's still coming up-- which is good, but will cost a fortune-- which is bad.
I dropped some cash this week, too, taking Justin to Jazz Alley on Thursday where we met my dad and sister to watch Dr. John perform. Jazz Alley is a great venue though from my limited experience I'd have to say I prefer the atmosphere of The Triple Door to it.
Friday, we couldn't help ourselves and went to sushi anyway. At the end of the work week I often feel to burned out to cook. Then we finished up the first season DVD of Lost. What will I do with my time now? (Oh yeah, play WoW.)
Saturday was the icing on the cake. We spent the whole afternoon soaking and sauna-ing at Banya 5, a Russian-style bathhouse/spa in downtown Seattle. Mmmm. I had some major residual arm soreness from a personal training session I won on Wednesday, and that soak not only felt really nice and helped me sleep well, it made me able to move my arms again.
Today we went for a run around Greenlake and kept house a bit. I feel back on track. And the best part is, the indulgences continue next week. Because of the mis-schedule, I have my hair appointment on Tuesday... and tomorrow I have my first medically-approved massage. Hooray for $12 co-pays!
Apologies for the somewhat cheese-sandwich post, but I felt all the good things were worth keeping record of.

Cheese sammiches are delish!
I'm glad that you're enjoying life more. What good is life if not to enjoy?

Yay! letting yourself enjoy life is definately a step in the right direction.
I want a cheese sandwich... damn dorms and the relative lack of food.

I like cheese-sandwich posts! They let you know what someone is up to... and that's the cornerstone of being a nosy blog-reader!
;-)
What I'm most looking forward to from our hotel stays on our wedding/honeymoon trip is that most of them have whirlpools and saunas - one even has an in-room jacuzzi. I needs me some hot relaxation.

Dinner at Toyoda's house ?!?! I am SOOOO jealous! What an awesome experience. Natchan is taking you under his wing - WOW !
Good to see you are indulging a bit - life isn't fun if you can't enjoy living it.

don't you see the writing on the wall, if after aaaaaalll this time he's still not making that commitment? duuuuuude, there are thousands of worthwhile men in the seattle area alone who'd love to have a chance dating you.
By , at 7:41 PM, March 22, 2006
Uh. Huh. WHAT writing on the wall? We've *discussed* our plans for the future of our relationship and agreed that we didn't want to get engaged until we had spent more time together in the same location. We're living in the same zip code for the first time in two years.
I wouldn't question Justin's level of commitment. He's the one who wanted to stay together when I went to Tokyo, alone, for twelve months. We've been together and faithful to each other for six years. Please don't make assumptions about commitment. Could YOUR relationship survive distance over time?

Some of these comments are awfully silly. You are right to take things as you feel ready for them, rather than acting based on feelings of insecurity or outside pressure.
